Garage Door Types

Steel Doors

What are the differences in steel doors? We get this question quite often. In the most basic sense there are three types of doors. Non-insulated / Partially Insulated / Fully Insulated

Insulated steel garage doorInsulated doors deliver a quieter operation. They generally have a better appearance from within the garage and provide some insulation to the garage. Steel doors are typically embossed with a wood grain texture but we have flush panel products as well as stucco style embossments.

The gauge and construction methods of the door gives the door strength. We believe at a minimum a 24 gauge steel should be used in constructing a door that will last. Fully insulated doors typically use what is called “sandwich construction” Simply this is two pieces of steel sandwiched and glued over a polystyrene (or equivalent) insulation material.

Steel garage doorPartially insulated doors have an insulation layer that in most cases is thinner. The insulation is typically held in place with a PVC (plastic based composite) or steel backing. This backing improves the interior appearance of the door and provides similar benefits that the fully insulated doors offer.

Non-insulated doors offer affordability and performance. South Coast Home Solutions Garage Doors believes the non-insulated doors should be a minimum of 24 gauge steel. Lighter gauge doors do not provide the performance we demand our customers get. They come in all styles and with similar window options.

Vinyl Doors

Our Vinyl Doors are designed so that they will be the last garage door you will ever buy! Rust, painting and denting are just some of the problems that homeowners have with steel doors. Installing one of our beautiful vinyl doors eliminates these concerns. Our vinyl doors come fully insulated and have an assortment of beautiful windows and colors to choose from.

Our vinyl doors come with a lifetime warranty, you will never have to paint this door and it is virtually dent proof. We call it our vinyl door the “kid proof” door.

So why buy a new door and have to worry about replacing it in just a few years? Let us show you the remarkable durability and the elegant look of a new Vinyl garage door.
